Honor

This is a great of woman. This great woman is mourning the loss of a great man who served our great country.

The viewing and the funeral were absolutely incredible. The outpouring of love and support to honor Tim's life was nothing short of amazing.

Tim was honored by the US military and his wife was presented with a gift she will always cherish. Tim was honored by friends and family by attending his funeral and showing his girls love. Tim was honored by people sharing memories of how his life made theirs better. Many many people honored Tim.

One great thing was Tim was around long enough to hear people honor him so he could appreciate it.

My point: we need to honor people when they are alive to hear it as well as when they are no longer with us. Life is way to short to wait until a "better time" to show love and honor to those who deserve it. Show honor as you can because you are not guaranteed another opportunity.

It's times like these that make you wonder what you will be remembered for and how will you be honored.

Our friend Tim Caudill died way before his time and we will miss him dearly.

it's all about timing

Another little concept I have been trying to teach my children is timing.

As soon as Hannah gets in the car she immediately starts with "can I have..." That list goes from a snack to her book, a piece of gummy on the floor, a drink, a sleepover... you name it and she is asking for it.

I got pretty tired of answering all these so I decided to lecture a 5 year old. I told her it's all about timing. You are more likely to get what you are asking for if you pick the right time to ask. After we are all buckled up and situated is a better time to ask for a snack. When mommy is already at the refrigerator is a better time to ask for a drink. When you are being good is a better time to ask for ice cream.

I figured this went in her little red head and back out the other side just like most lectures do but to my surprise I was wrong. The other day, my 3yr old asked for something as soon as the van door shut. We didn't even have our seat belts on or van started yet and Raegan asked for a snack and a drink. I didn't even get to turn around and Hannah was saying "shhhh RaeRae, it's all about timing..."

I gave Hannah a high five and gave them both a snack.

My point: it's all about timing.

The other day Raegan asked for a little sister - too late Rae, it's all about timing...

time flies

It seems like only yesterday...

We hear that so often. When I look at my children I can say it just about everyday. When I take the time to think that I have a child older than I am in this pic (actually she is 2x as old as I was in this pic), it really takes on a new meaning...

I was filling out paperwork to purchase a new home and it asked how long I have been in my current position at C3 and I couldn't believe our church is about 3 years old. Time flies when you are living the dream.

I want to make sure I take the time to enjoy every season of my life at this amazing church and the life of my girls. I have a different perspective as I get older. I am a lot more easy going so when I run into hyper people with hot headed tempers that take life way to serious, I just think - chill out (after I think "jerk")...

My point: enjoy your life. One day you will be looking back on your 4th grade pic wondering what everyone is doing and you get to be the one saying: Livin the dream...
